it is a MAJOR letdown for me when i order coke
and they ask if pepsi is ok. i don't know who
started that cliche line of questioning... but
i find it fucking redundant and insulting.
if pepsi were ok, i would have said: coke or pepsi is fine
or: which type of soda do you have?
or: what do you have to drink?
or: did you fall victim to pepsi and its mass
marketing schemes at cheaper prices in order
for you to deviate from 'the real thing' and
cause your business to lose precious money??
either way, i DESPISE when a waitperson asks
me that question. OF COURSE ITS NOT OK!
i don't have money for a tip. IS THAT OK?!?!?
fuck... this topic irritated me. not that cya
started it, just that it really bothers me when
some dumbfuck asks me that. *growls*</font></td></tr></table></td></tr></table></BLOCKQUOTE>
what would you rather have them do? do you think it is necessary for the waiter/watiress to list all drinks they serve everytime they take an order. i mean isn't that what the menu is for? unless i am mistaken, i believe that almost every restaurant i can think of lists the soft drinks they offer, and in fact, when we went to Bennigan's on saturday, they even listed the types of water they offered, they had three different types of flavored water, all tap water in a bottle, but still, they listed all the brands. i would think that it would be frustrating to the person taking the order to hear the same thing day in and day out from lazy retards like you guys that are too stupid to read the menu and find out what drinks the offer before requesting something they don't have. it's like that episode on saved by the bell when screech and his date went to the Max (a burger place) and his date ordered lobster because she was a stuck up snob (this was also the same episode where zac had the idea to bottle his "grandmother's" tomato sauce recipe in the school's chemistry lab only to find out later it was actually a betty crocker recipe.
anyways, just read the damn menu, don't ask for stuff they don't serve, and your problem there will be solved.
this wound up being a much longer post than i planned, but screw you if you don't like it.

unlike fast food restaurants, to which you are
most familiar, some restaurants do not show the
types of 'regular' drinks they offer.
so to answer... no, they should be willing to
kindly inform of what they have to drink.

An besides 9 times out of 10 here they ask you what you would like to drink before you even get your damn coat off much less look at a menu. The point being I am not mad so much that they offer something else I just FREEKIN wish they could carry both. Is that so much trouble for someone who is going to charge you $1.50 - $2.25 for something that prolly cost them pennies a glass???

yes fast food joints have their selection of beverages displayed right on the fountain at the counter, however, if you had looked at many menus lately, at "real" restaurants, they offer a listing of beverages they offer, it's in the "beverages" or "drinks" section....they list them all under "soft drinks" (aka, cokes, sodas, pop) and under that title, they usually ahve a collection of "icons" of each soft drink they serve...sometimes, they might say, we have pepsi products, or we have coke products, but believe it or not, i am a little more cultured than you want to think, i have been to restaurants, and they do list the beverages
and i'll tell you why they don't have both pepsi and coke products, they sign contracts with the companies. coke and pepsi make them do that so they can have the monopoly, the restaurants then in turn get "discounted" syrups and carbonated water to make the drink so they can charge 1, 2 and 3 bucks a coke at a markup of about 500%. if you could do it, you know you would too.

as previously stated, not all restaurants list
the 'common' drinks. i've been to restaurants
that do not have a regular drink listing (unless
it was alcohol from their bar)... nor does the
menu have the handy 'drink labels' that are
sometimes found on menus as opposed to the
words.
if i could remember what restaurant it was, i'd
tell you so you could go and see for yourself.
i'm sure i'll go there again... then i'll post it.

I agree with GT...every place I have ever gone to has them posted in the menu...and the fact that you have been to 1 restaurant w/o them listed really means nothing...considering every other restaurant in the world does...
